An Interview with Stephanie Ackermann What's been your most challenging role to date? I can’t say that any one role has been any more challenging than the others. They each present their own challenges along with possibilities. Each role has given me the opportunity to learn and grow as an actress. I will say that my biggest challenge in the last year has been writing a script, it’s incredibly difficult work. The only person I admired growing up was my big sister. I wanted to do whatever she was doing. That’s how I got my start in acting in high school. Candice and Deaqon definitely like to get under each other’s skin, however, I think there’s a great deal of respect between them. I can see them becoming very strong allies within the firm. Is there any hope for them romantically? I guess only time will tell. I did some acting in high school, but didn’t really pursue it until about a year ago. Actually, I have very much enjoyed working with independent filmmakers. Yeah, it may not be as glamorous as a big budget production, but independent work is inherently experimental so it’s a wonderful opportunity for actors to try different things. As the budget gets bigger, unfortunately, it becomes more about staying within that budget and on a schedule (usually very tight) than it does about the acting. I see a lot of myself in Candice. Like Candice, I can be a little uptight and impatient. Also like Candice, I’m a perfectionist. I think we are going to see the lighter side of Candice (and myself) a lot more in season two. Have some fun girl, life’s much too short to be so damn serious all the time! Super human courage. Oh the things I could accomplish if it weren’t for fear!
